Course Overview

Where The Money Quietly Leaks

Most businesses treat the Razorpay dashboard as a place to check if money came in, and that is exactly where the leaks start. A single settlement lands in your bank as one lumped credit covering hundreds of orders, already net of MDR, GST on that MDR, refunds, chargebacks and on hold amounts. If your accountant books the gross order value on one side and the net bank credit on the other without bridging the deductions, your suspense account grows every month and your ITC on the fee invoice goes unclaimed.

This is built for accountants, finance executives, founders and reconciliation staff who handle real Razorpay volume and are tired of month end closing slipping into the second week. By the end you reconcile the settlement report against the bank statement, match Razorpay's monthly tax invoice to the GST charged on MDR, treat refunds and chargebacks correctly including the double refund trap, set up RazorpayX vendor payouts with the right TDS section, and sync all of it cleanly into Zoho Books.

Curriculum

Three Levels, Built To Stack

Start where you are. Each level assumes the one before it, so your skills compound instead of repeat.

Level 1 · Foundations

Foundations

For anyone who opens the dashboard but has never fully understood the numbers. You learn to read the payments, settlements and reports sections, the difference between an order, a payment, a capture and a settlement, and why the money that hits your bank is never the same as what the customer paid.

Level 2 · Practitioner

Practitioner

For accountants and finance staff who own monthly reconciliation and GST filing. You build the full gross to net settlement bridge, reconcile the settlement report to the bank statement, claim ITC correctly on the MDR invoice, and handle refunds, disputes and chargebacks in the books.

Level 3 · Advanced

Advanced

For finance leads managing RazorpayX payouts, vendor payments and integration. You automate vendor payments with correct TDS, wire up webhooks so no payment goes unrecorded, and connect Razorpay to Zoho Books with a working exception handling process.

Module 1: Reading the Dashboard, Orders, Payments and Captures
Learn what each status means so you never book an authorized but uncaptured payment as revenue, and understand why a payment marked failed can still be collected later through the fallback polling, a common cause of missed income and duplicate entries.
Module 2: Settlements and the Gross to Net Bridge
Build the exact bridge from gross captured payments to the single net credit that hits your bank, accounting for MDR, GST on MDR, refunds, chargebacks and on hold amounts. The costly mistake is booking the net bank figure as revenue, which understates turnover and buries your fee expense and ITC.
Module 3: Settlement Report to Bank Reconciliation
Match the settlement report against the bank statement and resolve the standard exceptions, fee deduction where the actual MDR differs from expected, tax deduction for GST variance, rounding at sub rupee level, and unexplained credits with no matching order. Under the RBI 2025 directions settlement should land by T+1, so a late or short credit is a flag to chase.
Module 4: Transaction Fees, GST on MDR and Claiming ITC
Reconcile Razorpay's monthly consolidated tax invoice against the fee and GST deducted across every settlement, because a mismatch must be cleared before you file. Remember that 18 percent GST applies on the MDR only and not the cart value, and GST is not charged on domestic card payments up to 2,000 rupees.
Module 5: Refunds, Disputes and Chargebacks
Record refunds with correct reverse GST treatment, and handle disputes by deciding to accept or contest with evidence within the bank's window. The single most expensive error is issuing a refund after a chargeback has already been raised, the double refund trap, where the customer is paid twice and you lose the full amount plus the fee.
Module 6: Payment Links, Subscriptions and Recurring Payments
Reconcile one off payment links and set up subscription plans, then handle the auto debit retry cycle where a failed charge is retried before the subscription is halted. If you do not watch the pending and halted states through webhooks, you either lose recurring revenue silently or double bill a customer whose retry succeeded after you manually collected.
Module 7: RazorpayX Payouts, Vendor Payments and TDS
Run vendor payments end to end, upload the invoice, select the correct TDS section and rate so only the net amount reaches the vendor, and pull the TDS challans for filing. The leaks here are deducting TDS at the wrong section or rate, missing the challan at reconciliation time, and treating a failed payout as if it went through.
Module 8: Webhooks, Accounting Integration and Exceptions
Configure webhooks so every payment status reaches your system and no sale goes unrecorded, then sync statements, payouts and vendor payments into Zoho Books. Master the exclude list, because entries that fail categorization are dropped silently, and an ignored exclusion list is exactly where unreconciled items and GSTR mismatches originate.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do I need accounting knowledge before joining?
Basic bookkeeping helps, but Foundations starts from how the dashboard works, so a finance executive or founder without a CA background can follow along and reach the Practitioner reconciliation work comfortably.
Does this cover both the payment gateway and RazorpayX?
Yes. Modules 1 to 6 cover the payment gateway, settlements, fees, refunds, subscriptions and links, and Modules 7 and 8 cover RazorpayX vendor payments, TDS and accounting integration.
Will this help me claim GST input credit on Razorpay fees?
Yes, this is a core part of Module 4. You learn to reconcile Razorpay's monthly tax invoice against the GST deducted on MDR so your ITC claim is complete and defensible.
Is the content current with 2025 and 2026 rules?
Yes. The settlement material reflects the RBI 2025 payment aggregator T+1 credit expectation, and the GST treatment reflects current rules including the domestic card exemption up to 2,000 rupees.
